HOW IS IT PLAYED?

The game consist of hitting the ball from one side of the net to the other using the squares.

THE COURT

Each square has its own service area which is used to serve from when the opposite player has failed that square.
Furthermore the service area in square number 1 is used at the beginning of the game and when players change sides of the court.

The measurements of the GOLFTENN GO squares can measure 4 by 4 meters (13.12 by 13.12) or 5 by 5 meters (16.40 by 16.40 ft) with the exception of SPECIAL SQUARE what have special measures (assigned by the competition committee)

SPECIAL SQUARE

What is an “Special Square”?

It is an special touch by Golftenn Go

Is a especial SQUARE that is placed on each side of the net and its measurements are smaller than the rest of the SQUARES and can measure 2 by 2 meters (6.56 by 6.56 ft) up to 3 by 3 meters (9.84 by 9.84 ft). The decision is made by the competition committee.

The SPECIAL SQUARE  is used to recover from an adverse score and only the player who loses the SET in play can use it.

Example

PLAYER A – 4      PLAYER B – 5

The PLAYER A who is losing the set has the option to play the SPECIAL SQUARE. The SPECIAL SQUARE replaces the SQUARE that the PLAYER A should play and if the player’s a ball is good, automatically the score is: PLAYERA – 5 PLAYER B – 5
And the PLAYER B CONTINUES TO PLAY FROM WHERE THE BALL STANDS Passing the net to the SQUARE that corresponds.

Game example:

The PLAYER A is going to play from SQUARE 1 to 2. And as he is losing the set has the option to play the SPECIAL SQUARE. He played and the ball is good, now the SCORE is: PLAYERA – 5 PLAYER B – 5 and the PLAYER B most to play from where the ball stoped to the SQUARE 3. But In the same situation if the PLAYER A had failed the SPECIAL SQUARE the score in this case is PLAYERA – 4 PLAYER B – 6

THE NET

The height of the net depends on the level of the players, for amateurs the normal level is until 2 meters (6.56 ft) and for professional until 4 meters (13.12 ft)
And the normal wide is 6 meters (19.69 ft) and sometimes can have 7 meters wide (22.97 ft)

GOLFTENN GO AREA

As we can observe in the pictures, the surface is irregular, which makes this game more attractive as more technique is needed when the ball rests in a lower or higher level than your feet, or on an inclined surface. If it’s a windy day, the difficulty increases even more.

In addition, if the surface is different on each side of the court, the players will experience more or less difficulty depending on which side of the court they are playing. When a pack or set finishes, the players change sides of the court.

GAME MODES

BOUNCING INSIDE

When playing Bouncing lnside , the ball has to bounce in the corresponding square, no matter where it settles.

SETTLING INSIDE

When playing Settling lnside, it is not important where the ball bounces, provided that the ball stops inside the square.

BOUNCING AND SETTLING INSIDE

The ball must bounce and rest inside the corresponding SQUARE.

RULES OF THE GAME

• Rule 1  – Beginning•

At the beginning of each set or pack, the ball is struck from the SERVICE AREA of square  1. The ball passes over the net and must be dropped or rested (depending on the mode) in the opposing square 2. The ball is then struck from where it rests directed to the opposing square 3. Next, to hit the ball to the opposite square 4 from where the opposite player will hit the ball to the square 5 . And now the ball is hit again from where it rests to the opposing square 1 and so on to continue the game cycle (For the court of 3 squares the procedure is the same but playing with 3 squares instead of 5).

• Rule 2 – To Add a Point •

In case the player who throws the ball (player A) fails, a point will be counted to player B (opponent) and player B will proceed to put the ball in motion by striking from the SERVICE AREA of the square missed by his opponent. Another form to add a point is playing by SPECIAL SQUARE. If a player loses the SET and plays the SPECIAL SQUARE and the ball is good he will adds a POINT to his marker.

• Rule 3 – Score •

A pack or set will form the player who previously reaches 7 points. The competition committee will decide the number of packs or sets necessary to win the match.

• Rule 4 – Dropping the Ball •

The ball in play may be dropped the size of a golf card. In case of a deep pique, that the ball rests in zone of game with water, that the ball rests in a deep chop (the ball is to more than 1/3 of the same below the surface) and in case of a Immovable obstacle (including the tape forming the pictures), the dropping will be effected simply by relieving that obstruction.

Dropping can also take place in any case that the MATCH COMMITE decides to help play run smoothly.

• Rule 5 – Slow Play •

Once the ball is resting in the corresponding square, the player has up to 8 seconds to hit the ball. If he exceeds this time the player will receive a warning. If he gets 3 warnings, he will lose the match.

Four levels are conssidered :

–  First level up to handicap 9 .

– Second level up to handicap 18 .

–  Third level up to handicap 27.

–   fourth level up to handicap 36.

If opponents have the same level, a pack or set point will be given before the beginning of the same for every 4 points  of handicap difference , up to maximum of 2 points by pack or set.

And in addition to the above :  In case the opponents have different level of handicap will be the competition committee who decides to give an EXTRA  point to the opponent.

• Rule 7 – Types of Competition•

– Individual: one on one.

– In pairs and alternating blows: two against two.

– For RYDER CUP-style teams: Individual matches and pairs.
